Meet IAS Officer Abdul Nasar who completed journey from orphanage to collector’s office

Kollam [Kerala]: IAS Officer, Mr. Abdul Nasar completed his journey from orphanage to the collector’s office. On Monday, he was appointed as the Collector of Kollam District.

According to the report published in Indian Express, he decided to become an IAS officer in 1983 when the then Thalassery’s sub-collector visited his orphanage.

His personal background

When Mr. Nasar was 5-year-old, his father passed away. He was raised by the orphanage till the age of 17 years.

Later, Mr. Nasar who pursued his graduation and post-graduation in English literature become a health inspector.

Despite acquiring a job, he decided to appear in various competitive examinations.

Professional background

In 1994, when Kerala Public Service issued notification for the post of Dy. Collector, Mr. Nasar decided to appear in the exam.

In 2006, he became Dy. Collector. He got ‘conferred IAS’ status in October 2017.

On Monday, his dream came true. He became the Collector of Kollam District.
