More liquor shops in TS: Congress slams Govt.

Hyderabad: Dr. D. Sharawan, Spokesman of AICC alleged that due to unwise decisions of TRS Govt., there has been an enormous increase in wine shops and bars in Telangana. He slammed the Govt. by saying that it claims to be more active but wine shops have increased abnormally.

He was making a reference to news item published in certain newspapers that due to imposition of prohibition in AP State, the sale of wine in Telangana has increased and the people engaged in liquor business are getting ready to migrate to Telangana.

It may be mentioned that Govt. of TS has to announce Excise Policy for 2019-21 through which permission will be given for opening wine shops.

It is likely that more wine shops will be opened and Govt. has a proposal to double the license fee for wine shops. It may be mentioned that at the time of submission of applications, Govt. received an income of Rs. 400 crore towards non-refundable registration fee for opening wine shops.
