Muslims to spearhead anti NRC/CAA campaigns and nationwide boycott

Hyderabad: Different segments of the Muslim community unanimously opposed the recent National Register of Citizens initiative and the recently ratified Citizenship Amendment Act, both spearheaded by the Central government.

Following a press meet at the Media Plus Auditorium, a diverse group of community leaders including bureaucrats and religious/political/social leaders stressed the upon the unconstitutionality of the NRC while deeming it as an attempt to further transform India into a Hindutva nation.

They even emphasized their willingness to undertake sacrifices to protect democracy while also declaring that the NRC and CAA were aimed at tarnishing the secular fabric of the country.

Organized by Tahreek Muslim Shabban, the meeting called for a boycott of the CAA and a rejection of the Pan-India  NRC implementation. The President of the organization, Mr. Mushtaq Malik, candidly stated, “The government has mala fide intentions to crush the religious freedom of Muslims. The CAA and NRC will be highly disruptive, create social tension, and further damage the economy and the social fabric of this country.”

Representatives from Jamiat-ul-Ulema-e-Hind, Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadees, Popular Front, Wahdat Isalmi, Insaaf and Awaaz, Majlis Bachao Tehreek, Telangana Rasthra Samiti were present. Eminent personalities like former Minorities Commission chairman Abid Rasool Khan, Telangana State Khadi and Village Board Chairman Yousuf Zahid, Retired IAS Officer Shafeeq uz Zaman, current Minorities Finance Corporation Chairman Akbar Hussain, MBT’s Amjadullah Khan, Maluana Naseeruddin, Mufti Merajuddin Abrar, Raheemullah Khan Niyai, and others attended the event.  

“In name of persecuted migrants, a conspiracy is underway for the harassment and target killings of minorities to nurture fear among Indian citizens for vote bank politics,” condemned President Mushtaq Malik.

He added, “The exemption of a particular community of this country is unjust, unethical, and unconstitutional.”

Along with other organizations, the Tahreek Muslim Shabban appealed to citizens for their support in the fight to protect the existence and identity of the country’s Muslim community. TMS also announced a statewide meet to unanimously voice opposition against the NRC and its malicious effects on India’s citizens and its secular as well as democratic character.

To educated people about the NRC and elaborate why Muslims will boycott along with the CAA nationwide, public meetings and peaceful protests are in the works by the above-mentioned organizations under the Tehreek Muslim Shabban banner.
