4-year-old child drowns in drain

Ghaziabad: A four-year-old child today drowned in an open drain in Chaman colony under the Road Kotwali area, police said. This was second such incident of child drowning in an open drain within two days, they said.
On Sunday evening, an 8-year-old boy of Gulzar colony also drowned in the same drain.

It was constructed for the purpose of draining out rainy water and sewerage purpose.
Aiyyan was playing with his elder brother near the drain today when he slipped into the drain which is around 8-feet-deep.

His brother reached home and narrated the whole incident by indications because he is born mute, Deputy Superintendent of police Manisha Singh said. Later, the body of the child was fished out and family members along with police rushed him to the nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The body has been sent for post-mortem, the DSP said.
