Afghanistan: Taliban takes control of a district in Farah

Kabul: A group of Taliban militants attacked Anar Dara province situated in Afghanistan on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

“Taliban militants took control of the district (Anar Dara) late on Sunday night”, Khama Press quoted the head of Afghan provincial council Farid Bakhtawar.

In the meantime, as per certain government sources, Taliban militants launched a coordinated attack on the district leading to loss of various security personnel.

Further Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid confirmed to take control of the Anar Dara district.

“Militants of the group have fully taken control of the district and heavy casualties have been inflicted upon the security personnel during the clash,” Khama Press quotes Mujahid as saying.

Off late, the anti-government forces have increased their terror activities in the remote districts of Farah province.

Earlier there had been two separate incidents of militant attacks recorded on February 20 and 24 at Bala Bolok district in Farah causing the death of at least 28 Afghan soldiers. (ANI)
