Alimuddin Lynching Case: 11 ‘Gau Rakshaks’ convicted, court to pronounce sentence on March 20

Ramgarh: Court convicted 11 persons who were involved in Alimuddin Lynching Case. This judgment was given by a trial court in Jharkhand on Friday, 16th March.

According to the report published in The Wire, for the first time, accused are convicted in the case related to cow vigilantism. Court will pronounce sentence on 20th March.

It is also reported that accused including local BJP leader are convicted under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Three of 11 accused are also found guilty under section 120B (conspiracy) of IPC.

It may be mentioned that Alimuddin alias Asgar Ansari was beaten to death by a mob in Ramgarh. This incident took place on 29th June. A mob lynched him allegedly for carrying beef in a Maruti Van. They also burnt his car. Police personnel rescued him and took him to a hospital where he died during the course of treatment. Later, local BJP leader Nityanand Mahato was arrested in this case.

In the video which viral after the incident, the mob can be seen assaulting Ansari. Later, his wife, Mariam Khatoon held members of Bajrang Dal responsible for the heinous crime.

In October 2017, wife of a key eyewitness in the case was killed in an accident in Ramgarh District. Jalil Ansari, brother of Alimuddin was the witness in the murder case. His wife, Julekha was killed in a road accident. However, Khatoon and Jalil had alleged that it is a murder.
