Amazon deleting Michael Wolff’s book reviews to resist trolls

New York: Amazon is reportedly deleting reviews of the controversial book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, in order to avoid getting trolls about Donald Trump.

The book written by Michael Wolff had gained enough attention even before getting in the market. Moreover, the company did not reveal how many reviews it had deleted that did not comply with its policies, Daily Mail reported.

There were around 800 reviews on Saturday evening – which is relatively low for a popular book as Wolff’s. The e-commerce giant must have learned from its past experience as to when Hillary Clinton’s memoir was released last September, it had removed hundreds of bad reviews.

On January 5, after release of the book at 9 am US Eastern time, there were only four reviews, three of which were verified purchases. Between 8:20 and 8:40 am, two reviews had gone from the page, both verified purchases.

A spokesperson from Amazon confirmed that the site is deleting reviews that violate its guidelines, Quartz had quoted.
