Andhra govt to grant minimum time scale to contract-based employees

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh): The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday decided to give minimum time scale to contract employees, a decision that is expected to benefit 23,372 employees in the medical and health department and 3,802 employees in the higher education department.

The government announced that women employees will be given 180 days of maternity leave, the retirement age of contract employees will be increased from 58 to 60 years. It also said contract lecturers, who are given a 10-month salary, will be paid 12-month salary henceforth. However, the break from now on will only be for ten days.

A group of ministers led by state finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu along with ministers Dr. P Narayana, G Srinivas Rao, N Anand Babu, and senior bureaucrats took the decision.

In another meeting, the Andhra Pradesh government decided to allocate land to six institutions in Amaravati for development. A total of 80 acres will be allotted to Savita University in two equal installments.

10.2 acres of land will be allotted to international cricket academy, 2 acres for the Geological Survey of India, 1.5 acres for the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, 1 acre for Andhra Pradesh Crafts council and 2.65 acres for the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA).

The institutions which will not start construction within the stipulated time period will be served notices.
