Bandh failed, ready to compensate evacuees: Harish

Lashing out at the opposition for coming in the way of projects and reservoirs, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said that the bandh call given by the former in Medak district was a failure. Addressing a press conference at TRS Legislature Party office on Monday here, he slammed the opposition for giving bandh call though all the business establishments, shops and offices were opened as usual and functioned normally. The Opposition is hatching a conspiracy against the reservoir and indulging in provoking the villagers he alleged. He also said that majority of the villagers came forward to give their lands in lieu of suitable compensation.

The opposition is deliberately coming in the way of reservoirs which are aimed to supplying waters to second crop in the state he charged. He sought to know whether the efforts to supply waters for second crop in Telangana is wrong, when the Andhra Pradesh government is trying to give waters to third crop. Mahabunagar people have every right to draw Krishna waters as the river passes through the district he said and alleged that the Opposition is making a hue and cry for false prestige and mileage.

The Government is ready to give options such as Act 2013 or GO 123 for providing compensation to the victims for the Mallanna Sagar he said. Though the government has convinced people of six villages out of eight the opposition is provoking them he said. The TD and the Congress regimes took up some of the projects though failed to complete he said. The TRS Government is ready to discuss with the evacuees and help them with better compensation he reiterated. (NSS)
