Bhansali’s Padmavati gets U/A certificate from CBFC

Mumbai: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in a meeting on December 28 decided to give Padmavati a U/A certificate after some modifications in the film.

The meeting held had regular examining committee members, CBFC officials and a special advisory panel in the presence of board’s chairman, Prasoon Joshi.

The title of Padmavati is likely to be changed to Padmavat, the name of Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem based on Rani Padmini. Other modifications include the use of disclaimers, song Ghoomar will also be modified, reports India Today.

Due to an ongoing controversy around Bhansali’s epic, the special panel of board consisted Shri Arvind Singh from Udaipur as well as Dr Chandramani Singh and Prof K.K. Singh of Jaipur University.

The modifications needed were shared with producers, Viacom18 and the director in a feedback session after the film was screened. The makers are in agreement with the board.

Moreover, the certificate will be issued once the required modifications are done.
