Charminar pedestrian project nearing completion: GHMC Commissioner

Hyderabad: Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner of GHMC told that a decision has been taken to complete Charminar Pedestrian Project work by March this year.

He further told that after receiving instructions from the Govt. the construction work has been accelerated. Whitewashing of the adjacent historical buildings has also been taken up. Mr. Mohammed Musharaf Ali, Addl. Commissioner of GHMC has entrusted with the responsibility of completion of this project.

It may be mentioned that Municipal Administration Minister, Mr. KT Rama Rao had issued instructions to complete the project as early as possible. A sum of Rs. 87 lakh has been released for whitewashing the historical buildings near Charminar including Kali Kaman, Char Kaman, Machli Kaman and Kaman Sahre Baatil. The Commissioner also informed that the banners and hoardings which were erected on these arches have been removed. He told that a plan has been finalized to beautify Mehboob Chowk Clock Tower and park adjacent to it. He mentioned that Rs.3.50 crore have already been released for this project. With the help of police, traffic has been diverted. In the same manner, cooperation has been sought from Electricity Dept. and other offices.
