CM seeks reports from Collectors on sari burning incidents

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was furious on the alleged incidents of burning Bathukamma Saris at some places in the State on Monday. He directed the District Collectors concerned to submit reports on such unlawful incidents and file cases against those who resorted to burn the saris and leaders behind such vandalism.

The Chief Minister said to have enquired about the provocative incidents at Chalgal in Jagtial, Sattupally in Khammam and some petty incidents at a few places inHyderabad. The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over the way the Opposition leaders used social media to blame the State government on the sari distribution program. He also reportedly expressed serious concern over some TV channels for frequently airing the scenes of burning saris and fighting among the womenfolk. The Chief Minister sought to know about the facts behind the incidents of saris’ burning, protests and fighting among women at some places.

Textiles Minister KT Rama Rao informed the Chief Minister about the incidents orchestrated by the hostile Congress and Telangana Telugu Desam leaders. KCR also spoke to Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar on telephone and inquired about the Sari distribution program in the district. Ajay reportedly informed the Chief Minister that the women were collecting their pick happily and the program was going on smoothly manner. (NSS)
