Hyderabad: The All India Small Scale Industries Minorities Committee has welcomed the announcement of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for direct financial assistance to the unemployed youth belonging to Backward Classes in the State and termed it as a revolutionary measure for the uplift of weaker sections of the society.

Minorities Committee President S. Z. Sayeed said it is a novel measure in the direction of providing employment to the unemployed BC youth, nowhere in the country such a measure was being implemented, he said. He further said the Minorities Committee has been demanding direct financial assistance to the unemployed for starting their own small enterprise or business activity and had made representations to the Chief Minister and other authorities in the State. He said such facility would also be extended to the Minorities because they were suffering a lot in obtaining loans from banks, however small it was.

Sayeed demanded that the government and the Chief Minister extend the scheme to the Minorities and direct the Minorities Finance corporation to release direct financial assistance to the unemployed youth. He said the Minorities Finance Corporation had been allocated Rs 160 crore and if financial assistance at the rate of Rs one lakh per head was extended, then fruitful employment could be provided to over 16,000 families in the State.
