The cry of Yemeni children and their parents rises up to God: Pope

Abu Dhabi: “The cries of these children and their parents rise up” to God, said Pope Francis who made his first-ever papal trip to the Arabian Peninsula on Sunday. Francis called for the urgent observation of a limited cease-fire in Yemen. Abu Dhabi’s crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with Cabinet ministers and an honour guard greeted Pope Francis when he landed in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Francis asserted that the people are exhausted by the long conflict and many children are hungry, but humanitarian aid isn’t accessible. In a video message to the Emirates, Francis paid homage to his “friend and dear brother” el-Tayeb and praised his courage in calling the meeting to assert that “God unites and doesn’t divide.”

Pope is in Dubai to attend an inter-religious conference on Tuesday which will be attended by nearly 1 lakh 20 thousand people.

Around 10 lakh Roman Catholic reside in the United Arab Emirates who mostly belong to Philippine and India. People are keen to listen to Pope hence they are queuing to get passes for the Tuesday conference.
