Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has said the by-elections’ results were signal to the fall of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a foundation to Congress victory in 2019 elections.
In a pressnote, Ponnam said the by-elections’ results were a slap on Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. He said the BJP has won only one MP seat and an MLA seat where elections were held for four MP seats and 11 MLA seats across the nation. He said the BJP faced defeat wherever it was in power like in Maharashtra State. The people of Meghalaya also taught a fitting lesson to the BJP for its “undemocratic” act in that State, he pointed out.
Ponnam opined that the victory of RLD candidate in Kairana Lok Sabha constituency was possible with the unity of anti-BJP forces in Uttar Pradesh State. He said the victory was good omen for the Congress party’s victory in 2019 elections. (NSS)
