Hyderabad: Chairman of TS Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Saleem is convening a meeting of Qazis on Wednesday to discuss the issues relating to divorce and Qula. The issue of collecting Nikah fees from the families of brides may also crop up in the meeting.
Mr. Saleem told that although as Chairman of Wakf Board, he is not competent to interfere in such matters but to resolve these issues, it was considered necessary to offer to counsel to Qazis since they play a key role in these matters.
The Qazis should offer to counsel to the couples in order to avoid divorce or Qula, Saleem added.
He advised the Qazis not to collect Nikah fees from the brides’ families in order to avoid overburdening them.
