Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that his country will pursue non-dollar transactions in trade and investment with other countries. He asserted that US sanctions showed Washington was acting like “wild wolves”.

Stressing the need to gradually end the monopoly of the dollar once and for all by using local and national currency among us, Erdogan said Turkey and Russia are negotiating on not using American dollars in bilateral trade.

It must be noted that both Turkey and Russia are reeling from punitive economic measures imposed by the United States.

Over the detention of an American pastor, the diplomatic ties between US and Turkey have deteriorated and the Turkish lira has taken a severe dive since the beginning of the year.

Al-Jazeera has quoted Erdogan as saying, “America behaves like wild wolves. Don’t believe them,” he added “Using the dollar only damages us. We will not give up. We will be victorious.”
