EVMs can easily be tampered: Alex Halderman demonstrates in Boston Tech Conference

Hyderabad: American Scientist, Prof. Alex Halderman practically demonstrated that the votes polled through EVMs can easily be tampered in favour of a certain candidate.

Prof. Halderman told that it is the biggest danger for the functioning of democratic system. By tampering votes in favour of certain candidates, unwanted representatives can be imposed on public.

Discussions have increased in the wake of the recent alleged intervention of intelligence agencies and Russian agents in the American presidential elections. National Academy of Sciences, US stressed the need for conducting midterm polls of 2018 through ballot paper which can ensure transparency.

During Defcon Conference, Scientists demonstrated that within two minutes, EVMs can be controlled by remote control system.

Mr. Joseph Hall who is in charge of elections security research team of Center for Democracy and Technology, US told that after seeing the functioning of EVMs, many doubts have arisen. American National Association of Secretaries of State told that the demonstration is not casting any effect on the real world. Voters have apprehension that their votes will have no value if tampering is made.
