Hyderabad: Results of Assembly elections of five States were released recently. The number of Muslim MLAs remained same in Telangana State whereas it increased in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Not a single Muslim MLA got elected in Mizoram.
Telangana State:
According to the report published in Indian Express, in Telangana State, 9, 8, 8, 1, 1 Muslim candidates were fielded by Congress, TRS, MIM, TDP and BJP respectively. Out of total 27 Muslim candidates, eight managed to win Assembly seats. (Click here to view the list of Muslim MLAs in Telangana Assemblies).

In Rajasthan, eight Muslims candidates got success in winning the Assembly seat. Out of these eight MLAs, seven belongs to Congress and one belongs to BSP.

Madhya Pradesh
Although in Madhya Pradesh, the number of Muslim MLAs increased, only two Muslims, Mr. Arif Aqueel and Mr. Arif Masood became MLAs from Bhopal (North) and Bhopal (Central) respectively. These Muslim MLAs belongs to the Congress party.
In 2013, only one Muslim had managed to win the Assembly seat.
