Falling asleep during the day: It could be an early warning sign of this chronic disease

New Delhi: Are you falling asleep during the day? If the answer is yes, it could be an early sign of a disease which has a huge impact on day-to-day life, Alzheimer’s disease.

According to the report published in DC, a new study which was conducted on 300 retired people revealed this fact. During the study, it was found that high accumulation of amyloid plaques takes place in the brain of the people who feel sleepy during the day.

It may be mentioned that brain gets rid of amyloid when people sleep. Scientist further came to a conclusion that toxic substances build up in persons who suffer from broken sleep during the night.

The study was conducted on participants all aged more than 70 years. They were monitored between 2009 and 2016. This research was published in the JAMA Neurology journal.

Alzheimer’s decease

It is a chronic neurodegenerative disease. It starts slowly, however, worsens with time. Nearly 60% to 70% of dementia cases are caused by this disease. Early symptom includes short-term memory loss.
