Following CBFC orders: Kashmir references omitted from film Mission: Impossible _ Fallout

Mumbai: Controversy erupted over Kashmir referred as “India-occupied Kashmir” in film ‘Mission Impossible Fallout’. The map shown in the film misrepresents the boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir. Central Board of Film Certification chief Prasoon Joshi said the film depicts Kashmir as occupied Kashmir. He said the integrity of India’s borders is non-negotiable hence cannot be compromised.

Film director was directed to make changes in the film. Prasoon Joshi told sources taking note that Kashmir was referred as ‘India-occupied Kashmir’, we have asked to delete the part.

Christopher McQuarrie directed the film which was released in India on July 27. CBFC had recommended 4 modifications to the film. The picture was filmed in a valley in New Zealand. The film has collected Rs. 36 crore over the weekend.
