Going light with the new Light Phone 2

New Delhi [India]: Light phone 2 is the kind of phone that every parent would like their kids to have.

With this phone, you could place a call or send a text or even use maps and call for an Uber. What you cannot do, however, is use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat or for that matter, any other social media.

It uses E-Ink for the display and operates on a modified version of the Android operating system.

The intention was to design a phone that would be used as little as possible, giving us time to go out and do the things that we actually love. They call it ‘going light’.

The first version of the light phone was launched in 2016. It only served the purpose of making calls and storing nine numbers. The company sold 10,000 devices, but turns out, they were too simple for many and were not practical for some.

The Light Phone 2 is expected to ship next year and will cost about US$250.

The phone has been garnering some positive reactions over Twitter.

A user wrote, “That’s cool. I still plan on getting one. There is beauty in its simplicity. Keep up the good work”.

Another user tweeted, “Incredible. Clean and sleek. Looking forward to walking around with things and going light!”
