Gujarat BJP faces the Patidar’s heat, halts Deputy CM meet

GANDHINAGAR:  In an apparent bid to pacify and woo the agitating Patidar community ahead of the Assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party has invited the Gujarat’s powerful Patidars.

But the invitation seemed to backfires saffron party after members of Patidar community created ruckus at press conference in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

In the video posted by news agency ANI, as the Gujarat Deputy CM Nitin Patel began speaking to the media, the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) members created ruckus at an event by shouting anti BJP slogans.

Patel made desperate attempts to pacify the protesting PASS members, but to no avail.

Patidars, the traditionally loyal BJP supporters turned bitter towards the saffron party since August 2015 when over dozen members of the community demanding reservations and OBC status for themselves lost their lives in violent police crackdown.
