HC begins hearing on disqualified MLC’s Case

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday took up hearing of disqualified MLCs S Ramulu Naik, R. Bhupathi Reddy and K. Yadav Reddy.

Senior Congress leader and Supreme Court Advocate Salman Qursheed argued the case on behalf of the disqualified MLCs in the court. He said the MLCs did not join the Congress party and added that the then chairman of the Telangana State Legislative Council V. Swamy Goud misused his powers by disqualifying the MLCs without giving any notice to them. He also said the non-issuance of notices to the petitioners was nothing but violation of principles of natural justice.

Salman Qursheed urged the court to set aside the orders of the Council chairman and restore MLC status to his clients. Following the arguments of the counsel for the petitioner, the court adjourned the matter to Thursday following a request by the counsel for the State government for their arguments.
