HC orders 4+4 security to Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: The apex court of the State has issued orders over the security of TPCC Working president A. Revanth Reddy. Making it clear that it is the responsibility of the State government to provide adequate security to Revanth, it asked the State government to provide 4+4 security to the Congress leader. It also asked the State government to continue the security till the completion of the elections in the state.

The High Court has issued orders following a plea by Revanth urging to direct the state government to provide him adequate security while citing that he was facing threat to his life. He told the HC that he required four security personnel to accompany him round-the-clock. He pleaded with the HC to provide security with Central forces.

A single Judge bench heard arguments in the case and issued the orders to provide security to the Congress leader with Central government security forces. However, the Union Home Ministry, which was made a party by Revanth in the case, preferred an appeal in the case. While delivering its orders, the division bench of the HC made it clear that the security of local leaders was the responsibility of the state government and issued orders to amend the order of the Single judge in order to provide security with local security agencies. The HC also asked the State government to provide escort facility to the Congress leader along with 4+4 security personnel till the completion of the elections.

Speaking to mediapersons, Revanth Reddy alleged that the State government led by caretaker CM KCR was planning to kill him. He also alleged that the conspiracy of KCR was to blame Naxalites after killing him. “The CM has hatched a conspiracy along with local police and killer gangs to kill him. He wants to blame the Naxalites on the attack on him. It is because of this conspiracy, the State government was not providing any security to me,” he alleged. Revanth Reddy said he had cancelled some of his election campaign tours due to threat to his life.
