Himachal CM admits using chopper for more than 60% of his tours

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday admitted he has used helicopters in more than 60 per cent of his tours within the state.

In a written reply in the Assembly to Congress member Jagat Singh Negi, the BJP leader said he had toured 63 (of the 68) constituencies till January 15.

The Chief Minister, who also holds the general administration portfolio, said the helicopter has been used for touring 42 constituencies.

Two days earlier, Thakur had admitted the state’s loan liability stood at Rs 49,745 crore.

In this fiscal, the state had borrowed Rs 1,838.75 crore till January 15, he said in a written reply in the Assembly.

In his Budget speech, Thakur said out of every Rs 100 to be spent by the government, Rs 27.84 will be spent on salaries, Rs 15 on pension, Rs 10.25 on interest payment, Rs 7.35 on loan repayment and the remaining Rs 39.56 will be spent on development works and other activities.
