Home Minister Rajnath Singh plans Eid visit to Kashmir

New Delhi: With Eid-ul-Fitr around the corner Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is all set to visit Jammu & Kashmir for security review. He will take a decision on the extension of unilateral ceasefire besides taking stock of arrangements for Amarnath Yatra, to begin on June 28.

According to J&K government officials, Rajnath Singh is likely to arrive around June 10 for two days. During the visit, he will convene review meetings with the officials of Army, police, paramilitary forces and the government functionaries to assess the ground situation.

It must be recalled that Singh recently stated that the government was open to dialogue with Hurriyat and Pakistan, to which Hurriyat leaders responded by asking for more clarity over the initiative.
