Hyderabad: This morning, the Hussain Sagar police rescued a woman identified as K. Mamatha, 28, of Krishna Nagar Colony, Godavarikhani, Karimnagar district, who jumped into the lake, by NDRF Head Constable of 10th Bn Janaiah, who was on his way to his office and Yadagiri, PC 401 of TSSP, who came for daily morning walk.
On enquiry, it was revealed that the victim was in love affair with S. Abhilash, 29, of the same place since 10 years. As the woman’s family had fixed her marriage with another person, both the lovers came to the tank bund and had heated arguments and the woman lost her temper and jumped into the lake. She was counseled at the Lake PS and later both were sent to Bharosa centre for further counseling.
With today’s incident, 24 persons, who attempted suicide by drowning so far in 2018, were saved by the Lake police and a total of 168 lives were saved during 2017.
