Hyderabad: With drug abuse on a rise in the twin city, bikers across Hyderabad commenced a campaign ‘Say No To Drugs’ on Sunday morning. Around 300 bikers belonging to different biking clubs got together to spread cognizance in regards to drugs.
Aimed to highlight the rampant use of drugs by youngsters in Hyderabad, the Umbrella group- Hyderabad United Bikers (HUB)- comprises of 13 other bikers clubs, started their journey from different locations and reached Alankrita resorts to spread awareness.
Riding for a humanatarian cause:
One of the bikers, Nizam, who is also an admin of ‘The Guardians’ club told The Siasat Daily: “We admins of Hyderabad United Bikers wanted to spread this issue with the riders who would pass on the awareness of ill effects of narcotics to their friends and family in order to create an impact on the society we live in.”
“It was an initiative of some but had a turnout of about 300 at the venue Alankrita resorts, where we
promised one another that we’ll stay away from drugs,” the biker added.
The ride was started from various parts of Hyderabad, passing through Secunderabad, Tirumalagiri, Alwal to shameerpet.
Why to take inspiration from HUB:
It was much of a needed move, the society becomes what it sees around more often. India Bull Riders, Iron Heads, Freemen, Bikernis, The Guardians, Dust Devils, Hyderabad Karizma Riders and WindChasers are some of HUB’s member clubs, which are known for their participation in social causes.
The riders of HUB which include 10-15 women, organise four rides a year dedicated to the good cause.
