Hyderabad: Dacoit gang tries to loot jewellery shop, escapes unhurt

HYDERABAD: A dacoity gang of 6 attacked a jewellery shop in Nagaram this Tuesday afternoon and made away with Rs 15000 worth god chain.

The incident happened at RS Rathore Jewellers located in Lakshmi Nagar where two dacoits posing as customers entered the shop around 2 pm and asked to show gold chains in Rs 15000 range.

The owner suspected them after some time when the duo started discussing of the need to buy a ring along with a gold chain. And in no time one of the dacoits took out the pistol he was carrying and threatened to shoot the owner who was alone in the shop while his helper was gone for lunch.

Though scared the owner shouted for help and soon a lady who runs a business next to this shop rushed to his help but was shocked to see a gun pointed at the owner. She in turn started shouting for help too said Rachakonda Police.

Further speaking about the incident, Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said: “Suddenly, four members of the gang, who were standing outside, entered the shop. Another person too whipped out a gun. Perhaps fearing that they might land in trouble as passers-by started gathering in large numbers, they started slipping out of the shop one by one. In their hurry to flee, one of the accused dropped his weapon in the store.’’

The gang members later opened fire in the air to escape from getting caught. They also assaulted a bike rider and snatched his motorcycle. The six members later fled away on two Bajaj Pulsar bikes.

One of the bikes later crashed into a car. The three members fell and started running and after running for some distance, they stopped a biker and thrashed him and took his bike and fled.

The Police has also released a video of dacoits captured at the jewellery shop and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for those who give information on any dacoit members.
