Hyderabad: Fire alarm at IKEA store triggers panic

Hyderabad: A fire alarm at the IKEA store triggered panic on Sunday night. Hundreds of customers and employees ran out of the store before it was discovered to be false. The incident occurred at IKEA store located in Hitech City.

News 18 quoted an IKEA spokesperson as saying, “A false alarm broke out at about 8 p.m. in the IKEA store in Hyderabad due to which customers and co-workers had to be evacuated for some minutes as a safety procedure. Everyone is back in the building safely and business is back to normal.”

Denying that there was any fire in the store, a police official said that the fire alarm later proved to be false.

According to the police, somebody in the cellar pressed the fire alarm button. IKEA is investigating to identify the person responsible.
