Hyderabad: Maternal deaths increase three times- Here’re the causes

Hyderabad: In Hyderabad District, maternal deaths increased three times in 2016-17 when compared to 2015-16.

According to the report published in TOI, the number of maternal deaths was 105 in 2016-17 whereas it was just 31 in 2015-16.

It is also reported that Hyderabad superseded Ranga Reddy, Medak and Mahbubnagar Districts in the number of maternal deaths.

According to the experts, the reasons for such increase in the maternal death cases are severe infections like Dengue Fever, Chikungunya and Swine Flu.

However, Maternal Mortality Rate (Annual number of female deaths per 100,000 live births) in Telangana is better when compared to other states of the country. MMR in Telangana is 65.

Talking on this issue, a senior Gynecologist said that even loss of small amount of blood can sometimes result in death.
