Hyderabad Metro Rail: Congress demands for starting the project in Old City

Hyderabad: A delegation of Congress leaders of Old City called on the MD of Metro Rail, Mr. NVS Reddy and apprised him of the anxiety prevailing among the residents of Old City for not implementing Metro Rail project in the area.

Mr. Reddy told the delegation that Metro Rail work could not be started due to the non-cooperation of the local political party. He assured the delegation that he would meet Mr. KCR and make every possible effort to start Metro Rail in Old City.

The delegation of Old City Congress leaders included former Spokesman of Congress, Mr. G. Niranjan, former Secretary, Mr. Syed Yousuf Hashmi and others.

The Congress leaders told Mr. Reddy that for implementing Metro Rail Project, Old City is getting step-motherly treatment. During Congress regime, a decision was taken to start Metro Rail from Imleeban to Falaknuma but after the change of Govt. the plan was changed which is not appropriate. The people of Hyderabad are very much irritated for not including this project in the area.

They said that all the political parties excluding MIM are agitating for this issue. Mr. Reddy informed the delegation that the representatives of MIM did not cooperate with Metro Rail Project. Even the opportunity for conducting the survey was not given. The company did not proceed in this direction since it faced many difficulties in the acquisition of private properties.
