Hyderabad: Newborn baby kidnapped from maternity hospital

Hyderabad: In an incident which occurred at Govt. Maternity Hospital, Sultan Bazar, a strange woman kidnapped a newborn 6-day-old girl child. The incident created panic in the hospital.

According to the details of the incident, S. Vijaya (25) of Yellama Tanda of Manchal District of TS was admitted in the hospital on 21st June. She delivered a baby girl on 27th June.

On 2nd July, an unknown woman contacted Vijaya and asked her whether the newborn child has been inoculated or not. The mother of the child pleaded ignorance. The unknown woman took the baby girl under the pretext of getting her inoculated and fled away. When the father of the child asked about the newborn, his wife told that a woman has taken the baby.

Search operations were conducted but the woman could not be traced out. Sultan Bazar Police was informed. ACP of Sultan Bazar, Dr. M. Chetana sought the details from the mother of the child. Police faced difficulty in tracing out the culprit since CCTV cameras were out of order.

Police got a clue that the woman with a newborn baby boarded the bus bound for Bidar in Karnataka. Police constituted special teams which were sent to Bidar. It is hoped that very soon, the culprit will be arrested.
