Hyderabad: An engineering drop-out was arrested on Tuesday by Special Operations Team of Rachokonda after the team busted his drug racket operating in Telangana.

The special team seized 7 grams of Cocaine, 10 LSD blots and 2 Kgs of Ganja (Narcotic Substance) along with a scooter from the suspect Batchu Ravi Kumar.

Ravi targeted engineering students studying in different parts of the city. He operated the drug racket taking orders from clients through WhatsApp using code names “SCORE” for Cocaine, LSD and “GREEN” for Ganja. Ravi obtained these narcotic drugs from Goa while Ganja he procured from Vizag, Khammam districts.

An engineering drop-out, Ravi hails from Nalgonda District, he moved to Hyderabad and took admission into Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Technology (JNIT) in 2013 in CSE group.

He was first exposed to narcotics drugs when he travelled to Goa along with his friends. He reportedly fell into the bad company of Goa-based drug peddlers who later supplied him drugs to sell in Hyderabad.

At first, Ravi was cautious to sell drugs only to students known in his friends’ circle but later on spread his business by smuggling Ganja from Vizag and Khammam.

In the past two years Ravi sold drugs to more than 60 students in the city, Hans reports.
