‘I am ready to face bullets’, says Kanhaiya after saffronist’s attack him in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), RSS student wing and Hindu Yuva Vahini created chaos in Lucknow Literary Fest on Friday against former president of JNU students’ union Kanhaiya Kumar.

Kanhaiya Kumar, who was invited for a discussion on his book ‘Bihar to Tihar’ in the ongoing  Literary Fest at  the Sheroes Cafe.

As soon as the the Communist Leader reached the venue, the  right-wing activists ABVP and HYV reached the stage and raised Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Jai Shree Ram slogans.

The agitated ABVP and HYU workers also raised slogans against Kanhaiya by calling him ‘Desh ka Gaddar’, ‘Kanhaiya Kumar wapis jao’, The safroon goons also tried to attacked him.

The protest which was continued for more than 20 minutes lasted after the organizers intervene the scuffle. They tried to pacified and also clarified the right-wing activists that Kanhaiya is not a traitor.

Kanhiya Kumar in a blasted speech said that Lucknow is the city of Tahzeeb and this picture is not a part of Lucknow. He condemn the Centre and the state governments for trying to suppress every voice that goes against them.

“You have governments in 18 states but you cannot suppress an independent voice or stop someone to express his thoughts. I belong to a family of freedom fighter and no one can stop me expressing my thoughts,” Kanhaiya said in his speech.

“I am ready to face bullets but will not stop opposing those taking the country to a wrong direction,” he said.

Kanhaiya also offered his condolences to the RSS worker died in a blast allegedly while making country-made bomb in Kannur’s Koothuparamba area.

“I offer my condolences to children died at the BRD Medical College and also condole death of RSS worker died while making bombs,” said Kanhaiya.
