Hapur: NIA and ATS teams arrested an imam of Jama Masjid Baksar and seized a laptop and necessary documents from his possession. The team shifted him to Delhi headquarter. The imam was arrested on suspicion of funding Harkatul Harab module of ISIS.
According to sources, Maulana Mufti Saqib s/o Iftekhar is the Imam of Jama Masjid Baksar. He imparts religious education to children. At 6 in the morning, Maulana left from home to lead namaz. Before he could reach masjid teams of NIA and ATS arrested him. They took him to his house, collected laptop, passport and necessary documents from the house and then took imam to Babugarh police station. Later he was shifted to Delhi headquarter.
Police administration is not revealing the details.
Maulana’s father also teaches in a madrasa.
