Islamabad: Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu hoped that Imran Khan’s accession to the prime minister’s post will be good for Pakistan-India peace process. Sidhu who had donned a blue suit and a pink turban attended the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (the President House) in Islamabad.
Speaking to PTV, Mr Sidhu said, “A new morning is here in Pakistan with a new government which can change the destiny of the country.”
On the occasion, Navjot Singh Sidhu hugged Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Baweja. He was also seen sitting next to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) ‘president’ Masood Khan at the swearing-in of Imran Khan.
For this Sidhu was trolled on social media. Some even demanded cancellation of his passport. His Pakistan visit didn’t go well with Congress as well. Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi reacted strongly and said had Sidhu taken advice from him he would have suggested him not to go to Pakistan.
