India’s 1st Nuclear ballistic submarine passes test

India’s first nuclear ballistic submarine – INS Arihant has passed the first test informed the PM today.

Expressing happiness over INS Arihant’s successful deterrence patrol, the PM said “I congratulate all those involved, especially the crew of INS Arihant for this accomplishment, which will always be remembered in our history,” PM Modi said.

“In an era such as this, a credible nuclear deterrence is the need of the hour. The success of INS Arihant gives a fitting response to those who indulge in nuclear blackmail,” he said.

This ballistic missile submarine can remain undetected for a quite long time apart from firing city-destroying missiles from anywhere in the ocean.

The INS Arihant project was a highly classified programme that took several years for development and was under direct control of the Nuclear Command Authority headed by PM Modi.
