New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has developed an app that makes booking of flight tickets simpler, speedier and with the lowest fare too, reported by TOI.
Of late, IRCTC has been making a lot of progress to improve passenger experience and tying-up with startups to offer generous amount of options to customers. Last month, IRCTC announced that waitlisted passengers would be able to upgrade to Air India tickets in case of availability at zero or a little extra cost.
Flyers have to download the IRCTC Android-based mobile app — IRCTC Air — from Google Playstore, and they have to just SWIPE and SHUFFLE, SELECT and BOOK.
Also, a passenger’s existing IRCTC’s login credentials are applicable on this app too, and there is no need to create a separate user name and password.
IRCTC has developed the new app in-house, which enables booking of air tickets for travel within India and abroad at lowest prices.
A user on IRCTC’s train app will be able to use the same login credentials on this app. The tickets have been made relatively cheaper by eliminating any convenience/processing fee usually levied by travel agents. However, Rs. 10 per flight PNR will be charged to the customer in case the payment is made through net banking.
Air travel websites charge around Rs 150-250 per passenger per sector. Cancellation charges of IRCTC are also very low.
One cannot book more than nine tickets through the app on one PNR, and cancellation charges have also been kept very low. Credit card payments will attract 1.8% tax on the total amount.
One can book domestic and international flight tickets on both LCCs (low cost carriers) and FSCs (full service carriers). Also, cancellation refund is done within 30 days.
The mobile app is packed with an array of features. It stores a passenger’s previous flight searches and booking history that can easily be retrieved. It provides facility to book LTC flight tickets for holidays. There are multiple options to make payment. Installation of the app is easy and fast and once done, passengers can start air ticket booking straightaway. In addition, there is 24/7 customer support.
