Jamia Islamia University condemns Centre’s opposition to Minorities status

New Delhi: Stating the matter as ”Sub Judice”, Jamia Millia Islamia University Administration on Wednesday said they would not make any comments on Centre’s decision to oppose its minority status in Delhi High Court.

The Jamia Teachers’ Association (JTA), however, the decision was “highly condemnable”.

Jamia Media Coordinator Saima Saeed responding to the move said “The matter is sub judice, so the court will decide the constitutional merit of the whole case.

Hopeful about Court’s decision, the varsity official said other minority institutes are facing the same issue and since the minorities are protected under Article 31, The constitutional promises will be upheld, Nyooz reported.
