JD(U) takes U turn on Triple Talaq bill

Patna: Janata Dal (United) will oppose Triple Talaq bill. Our party’s stand is, any law must be formed according to the constitution. Members of our party will demand to send the bill to select committee. JDU is with NDA only on development agenda. Social justice and communal equality is the soul of our party we cannot distance from it. These views were expressed by state vice president of JDU Prof. Younus Husain Hakeem.

It must be noted that after the Muslim women bill was passed in Lok Sabha the bill could not be passed in Rajya Sabha due to strong opposition. Nearly 17 parties had opposed the bill including the NDA allies. But Janata Dal (United) had supported the bill.

Later the party revised its policy and took a new stand. It is believed that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar played a key role in changing party’s stand.

Prof. Younus said our chief Minister Nitish Kumar had decided to go with NDA only for the development of Bihar. We are not in NDA to spread communalism. He said we are not behind anyone with regard to Muslim Women Bill nor in the line of Congress, but it’s our own stand that Muslim Women Bill should be sent to Select Committee.
