‘Justice League’ could lose USD 100m at the Box-Office

London: Looks like the League is being jolted by the dismal reviews of the critics.

According to the Independent, some new reports suggests that the superhero epic could lose a staggering USD 50-100 million for Warner Bros.

The huge loss is calculated after factoring in a marketing budget of USD 150 marketing budget, according to a leading U.S. publication.

Tracking for a USD 110 to USD 120 million opening weekend, ‘Justice League’ took USD 96 million at the US box office, making just over USD 280 million worldwide.

Former studio executive Rob Cain, who is responsible for the bold projection, also claims that the film’s theatrical run will end at about USD 635 million worldwide, which would subsequently make it the least successful of the films in the DC Extended Universe so far.

The publication also lists the last 20 superhero movies side-by-side and their gross profits, reading ‘Justice League’ will be only one to lose studio significant sums. At 19 comes ‘Man of Steel’, which made Warner Bros., USD 42.7 million.

Earlier this week, fans began campaigning for for the release of Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of ‘Justice League’, with a petition attracting over 98,000 signatures.

Last week, Justice League hit cinemas across the world and received a decidedly lukewarm reaction from critics and fans alike.

Now, it seems that the reaction has extended itself to the box office too, after new reports claimed that the superhero epic could lose a staggering USD 50-100 million for Warner Bros.

Former studio executive Rob Cain, who is responsible for the bold projection, also claims that the film’s theatrical run will end at about USD 635 million worldwide, which would subsequently make it the least successful of the films in the DCEU so far.

On its opening weekend, Justice League made approximately $94 million in U.S. cinemas – falling short of the USD 110 million estimates- and took USD 185.5 million internationally.
