Karnataka Assembly Elections: BJP IT Head Amit gets Poll dates beforehand EC’s official announcement

New Delhi: Ever since ruling party BJP has come to power, it has always stayed ahead of time informed of all the confidential new developments even before the administrative bodies official announcements.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya had tweeted the dates of polling and counting of the forthcoming Karnataka Assembly elections for 2018, beforehand the Election Commission body officially announced the dates of polling and counting pertaining to 2018 Karnataka Assembly Elections.

When Amit Malviya was asked on Twitter of how he had access to the dates beforehand the Election Commission’s official announcement, he simply said that he saw them on a news channel and that they were already public.

Taking into account of the leaked information to BJP, several Journalists approached the Election Commission office in New Delhi, spoke with the Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat, questioning him of how could a political party had access to such an highly confidential information beforehand.

“We will find out what happened and a full investigation will be launched. Let us not speculate on what they have,” Rawat responded in the press conference.

He reiterated that the Election Commission will take action against the leaked information. He said: “Certain things may have leaked for which Election Commission will take appropriate action. It will be investigated. Be assured that actions legally and administratively befitting will be taken,” Indian Express reports.

However, Malviya had got the dates a little wrong and thus deleted his tweet.

Responding to Malviya’s tweet, Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala took to twitter and said: BJP becomes the ‘Super Election Commission’ as they announce poll dates for Karnataka even before the EC. The credibility of EC is on the test. Will EC now issue a notice to BJP President, Amit Shah & register an FIR against BJP IT Head for leaking EC’s confidential information?

Meanwhile, the Election Commission announced the forthcoming Karnataka Assembly elections that will hold polls on May 12 while the results will be declared on May 15.
