Kasganj clash: ABVP and RSS bikers abused Muslims on R-Day

Kasganj: Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj remained tense after violence had erupted there on Republic Day. The town was curfewed as affiliates of right-wing groups -RSS and ABVP- torched two shops and a bus.

A boy was killed and the incident left another two injured. There were also reports of stone-pelting at a motorcycle rally taken out by right-wing volunteers on Mathura-Bareilly highway.

Some local Muslims were celebrating Republic day on Friday to honour Dr Ambedkar and had hoisted the tricolour. When bikers of ABVP and RSS were asked to take a different route as the celebration was going on in the way, they started abusing Muslims, by affiliating them with Pakistan.

“The troublemakers are being identified, and stringent action will be initiated against them. The district administration has been able to control the situation so far, but additional forces will be called to ensure that the situation does not worsen,” the Additional DG (Law and Order) Anand Kumar had said.
