Kasganj: Family members of Chandan Gupta, the youth killed in the Kasganj violence on Republic Day, met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Tuesday and demanded that he be given martyr status.
They have also demanded that ‘tiranga yatras’ be stopped immediately in order to maintain peace and harmony.
In an interview with to Mumbai edition of TOI, Chandan’s sister told that “There should be an end to ‘tiranga yatra’ if it’s leading to violence and people continue to die like my brother”
She told media that the Chief Minister patiently heard them out but did not respond to their demand for declaring Gupta a martyr.
“We have given our demand in writing but there was no assurance from the Chief Minister. We are hopeful that the state government will take a sympathetic view on the matter,” a family member said.
He (CM Yogi Adityanath) didn't say anything about it. We have submitted our demands in written form but we don't know what decision is he going to take: Chandan Gupta's sister on being asked about the family's demand of 'martyr' status for him #KasganjClashes pic.twitter.com/9NARgmr4w6
