KCR’s sympathy for BJP exposed, Finance Minister will not attend Vijayawada meet

Hyderabad: CM of TS, Mr. KCR has started making attempts for the formation of the Third Front but his sympathy for BJP has been exposed once again. A meeting of Finance Ministers of various States has been convened at Vijayawada on 7th May but Govt. of Telangana has decided not to send its Finance Minister to the above meeting.

It may be mentioned that in the first meeting of Finance Ministers held in Kerala last month, TS Govt. did not send its Finance Minister. Despite a request from AP Govt., Mr. KCR has instructed the Finance Minister of TS not to attend this meeting.

It may be mentioned that this meeting is being held to review various injustices that are being meted out to the States and also to delegate certain powers to the States.

Mr. Rajinder, Finance Minister of TS informed that he will not attend the meeting scheduled to be held at Vijayawada today. The Southern States have decided to struggle against the implementation of the recommendations of 15th Finance Commission through united efforts since funds have been recommended to the State on the basis of the population of 2011 Census.

Mr. TM Thomas, Finance Minister of Kerala had met Mr. E. Rajinder, Finance Minister of TS last week and had invited Mr. Rajinder to attend the meeting. Initially, Govt. of TS had assured that the Finance Minister would attend the meeting but at the last moment, this decision was reversed. The reasons for changing this decision are not yet known.

The objective of Vijayawada meeting is to discuss the report of 15th Finance Commission and submit its recommendations to the Central Govt.

It may be noted that many opposition parties have termed the report of 15th Finance Commission as unjust. Mr. C. Kutumbharao, Chairman of AP Planning and Development Board alleged that other states are being threatened to prevent from attending the Vijayawada meet. He also said that under the pressure from Central Govt. some states may avoid attending the meeting which is very sorrowful.

Finance Ministers of Delhi, Punjab and Karnataka have confirmed their participation. Mr. Rao alleged that Central Govt. is treating the State Governments like municipalities. It may be recalled that Mr. KCR had made an attempt to form the Third Front but his inclination towards BJP is quite evident after the Parliament session. On the occasion of ‘No Confidence Motion’, he had exhibited soft corner for the Center and later avoided sending Finance Minister of the State for the meeting that was held in Kerala.

Political analysts opine that under the pretext of injustice to the States, KCR wants to bring local parties to a common platform in order to weaken Congress. This is the reason, he is concentrating on the parties which are the allies of Congress and are part of UPA.
