NEW DELHI: Police personnel use water cannons and tear gas shells on thousands of protesting farmers on Tuesday as they tried entering the national capital Delhi by breaking barricades.

The police action led to several injuries while one of the protestors lost consciousness, said an agitating farmer. They also claimed that the policemen baton-charged to disperse the protestors.

Over 70,000 farmers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and other parts of North India are on a protest march from Haridwar’s Baba Tikait Ghat. The protesters started their 10-day march lead by the Bharatiya Kisan Union and reached the Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border.
