Komatireddy and Sampath files Contempt of the Court against Assembly

Expelled Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar have field Contempt of the Court petition in the High Court today alleging that the state government was not implementing the High Court verdict of continuing both Komatireddy and Sampath. It may be mentioned here that the Telangana Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary had expelled two Congress MLAs considering the incidents took place during Governor’s speech during budget session. Both expelled MLAs approached the Court on Speaker’s decision. The Court delivered the verdict that the Speaker’s decision was not valid and the Speaker has to continue both the MLAs till their duration ends. However, Assembly secretary and Assembly Affairs secretary didn’t consider the single bench judge’s verdict. Challenging the single bench verdict, 12 TRS MLAs filed a petition in the High Court but the High Court Division Bench upheld the single bench verdict and dismissed the TRS MLAs petition saying that the petition has no validity. Even after Division Bench’s verdict the state government failed to implement the Court verdict. The Congress leaders submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary on June 11 but they didn’t get any assurance from the Speaker.

Reacting on it, both expelled MLAs again approached the Court alleging that the government was not considering them as MLAs and not providing the privileges and salaries. They also urged the Court to initiate action under the contempt of the Court against the Assembly secretary and Affairs secretary. The Court may take up the case for trail on Friday. (NSS)
