Member of Socialist International Labour party of United Kingdom asked the Brits to take responsibility for the ongoing Palestinian tragedy. She was addressing Labour Party conference 2017, held in the seaside resort town of Brighton on the south coast of England.
Speaking on the occasion she said, pressure and discrimination are rampant in today’s world. She maintained that this year marks 50 years of Israeli occupation, 10 years siege of Gaza and 100 years since the British foreign secretary promised the land of Palestine to the Jewish people, the civil rights of the existing population i.e. Palestinians will be protected but that turns out to be empty claim.
She asserted, we Brits have responsibility for what has occurred. 70 years ago 750 thousand Palestinians were driven from their homes, more than 450 towns and villages were destroyed. She said, ‘we Brits need to take responsibility for the ongoing Palestinian tragedy’…… We call for an end to the Israeli blockade of Gaza; an end to Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian land, she said.
